This day, step into the heart of China's imperial history as you explore some of Beijing's most iconic landmarks, where centuries of power, ceremony, and tradition unfold before you.
Your journey begins at Tian'anmen Square, the largest public square in the world and a symbolic center of modern China. Vast and monumental, the square has witnessed some of the most significant moments in the nation’s history. Standing here, you can admire the imposing Tian’anmen Gate—an image recognized around the world.
From the square, walk directly into the legendary Forbidden City, the immense imperial palace complex that once served as the residence of 24 emperors during the Ming and Qing dynasties. For nearly 500 years, this walled city remained inaccessible to ordinary citizens, guarding the secrets of imperial rule behind towering vermilion walls and golden rooftops.
Entering through the majestic Meridian Gate, you will follow the central axis through magnificent courtyards and grand ceremonial halls. With over 8,700 rooms, the Forbidden City is the largest and best-preserved collection of ancient palace architecture in China. Travel northwest of Beijing to the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall, nestled among forested mountains about 73 kilometers from the city. With a history stretching back over 2,000 years, the Great Wall remains one of the most extraordinary feats of human engineering ever constructed.
Mutianyu is widely regarded as one of the most beautiful and best-preserved sections of the wall. Surrounded by rolling mountains covered with pine and cypress trees, this stretch features 23 impressive Ming-dynasty watchtowers linked by graceful stone ramparts.
A scenic cable car ride carries you up to the wall, where your exploration begins. Walking along the ancient battlements, you will witness breathtaking mountain panoramas as the wall snakes across the ridges like a colossal dragon. Adventurous travelers may continue climbing toward higher watchtowers, where each step rewards you with ever more dramatic views. This day, you leave Beijing and travel north by high-speed train to Harbin, a journey of approximately five to six hours.
Upon arrival, your guide and driver will meet you at the station and transfer you to your hotel in the city center.
Harbin, the capital of Heilongjiang Province, is famous for its long winters and spectacular ice sculptures, earning it the nickname "Ice City". Each winter, the city hosts the world-famous Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival, transforming the landscape into a glittering kingdom of ice palaces and luminous sculptures.
Flowing through the city is the Songhua River, affectionately known as Harbin's "mother river".
