During your free time, you may explore the lively City God Temple Tourist Area, home to the historic Old City God Temple and the exquisite Yu Garden. Classical pavilions, rockeries, ponds and zigzag bridges reflect the elegance of traditional Jiangnan design, while surrounding streets buzz with local snacks, handicrafts and vibrant market life. Here, centuries-old culture blends seamlessly with Shanghai's contemporary charm.
Day 2: Shanghai–Suzhou–Wuzhen
Attractions & Activities: Liuyuan Garden, Xitang Ancient Town, Wuzhen Town
Accommodation: Wuzhen
Meals: hotel breakfast
After breakfast, travel to Suzhou to visit the elegant Lingering Garden (Liuyuan Garden), one of China's four most famous classical gardens. Renowned for having the greatest number of architectural structures among Suzhou's gardens, it artfully combines halls, covered corridors, pink walls, grotto-style doorways, dramatic rockeries, tranquil ponds and seasonal blossoms into dozens of courtyard spaces of varying sizes. Its masterful spatial arrangement fully demonstrates the superb craftsmanship, refined wisdom and artistic achievements of ancient Jiangnan garden designers. The majestic Crown Yun Feng rock, rising 6.5 meters high, stands as the tallest Taihu stone in Jiangnan gardens and is a highlight not to be missed.
Recommended Photo Spots:
Century-Old Ginkgo Biloba Tree: the golden leaves of this ancient tree create a striking contrast with surrounding red foliage, making it a perfect autumn photography spot.
Architectural lines: frame your shots using elegant eaves, lattice windows, and corridor lines to create depth and layered composition.
Unique angles: try low-angle photography to emphasize the grandeur of red maple leaves, or experiment with side and back perspectives for artistic variety.
Crown Yun Feng: Capture this towering Taihu rock masterpiece from multiple angles to highlight its dramatic silhouette and textured surface.
Continue to the poetic Xitang, a thousand-year-old water town often described as a "living ancient town". Stroll along the iconic Mist-Rain Long Corridor (Yanyu Gallery), where covered walkways stretch beside tranquil canals. Whether traveling solo while listening to the soft melody of guqin music in misty rain, or walking hand in hand with a loved one along the riverside, Xitang offers an atmosphere of romance and serenity. The town has preserved its authentic ecological character and remains a sanctuary for artists, scholars and travelers seeking respite from urban bustle.

Wolong Bridge: from here, capture boats gliding beneath stone arches — a picturesque Jiangnan scene.
Later, visit Wuzhen Xizha, widely regarded as the essence of Wuzhen. Unlike the lively Dongzha, Xizha exudes a refined and artistic atmosphere. Carefully restored wooden houses line the waterways, while cafés, bars and cultural spaces create a literary ambiance.

Night Tour of Xizha
If daytime Wuzhen reveals the authentic charm of a Jiangnan water town, nighttime Xizha presents a magical transformation. As evening descends, thousands of lights gradually illuminate the ancient town, outlining tiled roofs, flying eaves, arched bridges and whitewashed walls in warm golden hues. Lanterns glow softly in inns and restaurants, while subtle light spills from wooden windows, evoking a sense of warmth and nostalgia. Reflections shimmer across calm canals, and the entire town appears like a floating palace in the clouds. The beauty of Xizha at night is both grand and delicately conceived — an extraordinary spectacle rarely matched elsewhere.
Day 3: Wuzhen–Hangzhou–Shanghai

This morning, head to Hangzhou to explore the legendary West Lake, a dazzling pearl set in the western part of the city. Stroll along Su Causeway and immerse yourself in scenery once praised by the poet Su Dongpo as "beautiful whether in light or heavy makeup". The harmony of water, mountains, pagodas and classical gardens creates an atmosphere of poetic tranquility. As one of China's first 5A scenic sites and a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site, West Lake continues to captivate visitors from around the world. Enjoy a relaxing boat ride to fully appreciate its timeless beauty.
Then explore Hefang Street at the foot of Wushan Hill, part of historic Qinghe Lane. Stretching over 1,800 meters, this vibrant pedestrian street preserves the charm of old Hangzhou. In the past, the famous "Four Corners of Qinghe Lane" were home to renowned businesses such as Kong Fengchun Xiangfen Shop and Mi Dachang Ham Shop. Hangzhou's celebrated "Five Hangs" industries also originated here. Today, the bluestone streets are lined with more than a hundred time-honored brands offering traditional snacks, antiques, calligraphy and local specialties.
Return to Shanghai and proceed to the Huangpu River Dock for a scenic cruise. As the boat glides along the river, admire the iconic skyline, passing historic architecture along the Bund and modern landmarks such as the Oriental Pearl Tower and Shanghai World Financial Center. Afterwards, ascend the 88th floor of Jin Mao Tower for a breathtaking panoramic view of Shanghai at night. As darkness falls, the Bund's grand buildings shimmer in golden light, neon reflections dancing upon the water, evoking both nostalgia and modern glamour.
