Day 2: Zhangjiajie

Here, you will stand before the iconic Hallelujah Mountain, the very inspiration for the floating peaks in the film Avatar. This ethereal landscape leads you straight into Pandora—the fantastical world of floating mountains depicted in the film. Continue to the Heaven's First Bridge, a natural stone arch surrounded by drifting clouds and towering peaks, showcasing views so dramatic that they are truly too much to take in.
Next, explore the majestic Tianzi Mountain, known as the "Monarch of the Peak Forest". Here, you will learn about the unique geography of Zhangjiajie, discuss the value of its ancient quartz sandstone minerals, and uncover the secrets of the peak forest that has stood for millions of years. The swirling mist that often blankets the summits astonishes both domestic and international tourists alike. Later, discover the Huanglong Cave, known as the "World Champion of Caves," while enjoying pastoral scenery of locals working from dawn till dusk. Delve deep into the cave, where twinkling lights and towering stone pillars resemble ancient trees intertwined in stone, truly a "magic palace underground". In the evening, be captivated by the top-level folk performance Charming Xiangxi Show, directed by Feng Xiaogang. It encapsulates the essence of Xiangxi culture, amalgamating strength and grace, showcasing a perfect fusion of life and nature.
Day 3: Tianmen Mountain - Fenghuang Ancient Town

After breakfast, travel to the renowned literary master Jin Yong's "Tianmen Fairy Mountain"—Tianmen Mountain. Over there, you will experience its six ancient mysteries and five major highlights: 1. The world’s longest passenger cableway, 2. One of the world's eight most terrifying plank roads—the Ghost Valley Glass Plank Road, 3. The world’s highest aerial garden, 4. The world’s tallest mountain elevator, and 5. The world's premier road marvel, Tongtian Avenue. You will also explore the namesake Tianmen Cave, the eerie Ghost Valley, and the high-altitude Sky Corridor. This is a day to challenge your limits at dizzying heights, walking on glass with nothing but sheer cliffs below.
Tianmen Mountain, with its rich historical and cultural background, is revered as a sacred mountain by the local people, honored as "the first divine mountain of Xiangxi" and "the soul of Wuling". After descending, you will take a dedicated bus for about 3 hours into the mystical depths of Xiangxi—Fenghuang Ancient Town, the legendary Phoenix Town. The journey itself is a scenic drive through winding mountain roads and rural villages, building anticipation for the ancient gem that awaits.
Upon arrival in Fenghuang, you will experience its nine key highlights: a green hill embracing the ancient town, a flowing river winding around the town, a red stone-paved street, an ancient city wall safeguarding the town, a grand ancient city tower, a beautiful rainbow bridge, stilt houses lining the small bridges, renowned historical figures, and a national intangible cultural heritage. As night falls, enjoy the spectacular Seven Layers Water Curtain Light Show on both banks of the beautiful Tuo River. You will board a traditional wooden boat, listen to the boatman's soulful call, and see the century-old Tujia stilt houses perched precariously on the banks—a sight of unique, rustic charm. As you drift downriver beneath the graceful Hongqiao (Rainbow Bridge), a picturesque scene of jiangnan watertown unfolds before your eyes: the elegant Wanshou Palace, the towering Wanming Tower, the historic Duocui Building . . . A profound feeling of being far removed from the world envelops you.
The southern bank of the Tuo River hosts the ancient city wall, built of distinctive purple-red sandstone that appears both elegant and majestic. It features two ancient gate towers that, despite the relentless passage of time, remain magnificently preserved. The waters of the Tuo River are crystal clear, and the river channel beside the wall is shallow, with gentle currents revealing swaying water plants below. A long bamboo pole is all you need to leisurely navigate your boat along this dreamy waterway. As you go, you will notice the intangible cultural heritage of Xiangxi surrounding you.
